North Carolina Requirement Details

PLEASE NOTE: Based on North Carolina rule, which states continuing education hours must be completed by June 10 each year, courses have been removed from the catalog. Please check back on our catalog on July 1st, when the courses will be available again.

The CE Shop is an approved Sponsor in North Carolina Approval Number: 1421

Renewal Date: Brokers renew their licenses every June 30 but must complete their CE hours by June 10

Hours Required: 8 hours including the mandatory 4 hour annual Real Estate General Update course. If you are designated as a Broker-in-charge or you are Broker-in-charge eligible, you must take the Broker-in-Charge Update (BICUP) course as your elective course each year, beginning the first full license year after the license year in which you declared yourself a broker-in-charge.

CE Shop Offering: 4 elective hours. Both the Update course and BICUP course must be taken in a classroom setting. The CE Shop cannot offer either the Update course or the BICUP course at this time.

Seat time: The North Carolina Real Estate Commission requires that all students spend a minimum amount of seat time engaged in the course content. Our online course delivery system manages this requirement for our students.

Reporting: Real estate course completions are reported to the NC REC each business day. It may take an average of 2-4 business days from the time we report your hours before the Commission updates your license and/or updates their website with the hours. Please be patient with this process and understand that it may vary depending on your state. Course completion(s) are reported on the designated and publicly posted scheduled days. Course completion(s) will be reported the following scheduled reporting day from the course completion date(s).

Final Exams: Final exams must be passed with a 75% and may be taken as many times as necessary in order to pass.

Expiration date of course: Course expiration dates vary by course but are generally 30 days after order date or by June 10th of every year, whichever comes first per NC REC requirements for online courses. Each individual course will have an expiration date listed in your account. Re-enrollment will be required if the course is not completed prior to expiration date in non-retired/expired courses.

Post-licensing: Pleaes visit the NC REC website for information on post-licensing requirements by clicking here. The post-licensing courses must be taken in a classroom setting. The CE Shop cannot offer the post-licensing courses at this time.

Certificates: Immediately upon real estate course completion, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course Certificate of Completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five (5) years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Please refer to your renewal application to determine if you need to submit your Certificate(s) of Completion with your renewal. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date on your certificates of completion will reflect this.

Please enter your individual license number correctly and fully when prompted in the registration process.
